In Loving Memory of Our Dear
Lama Lekshey

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Lama Lekshey (Karma Xianbin Lama Wangjie) on November 22, 2023, after months of treatment and surgery at a hospital in Delhi, India. He was 46 years old. Lama Lekshey was the General Manager and Treasurer of Tergar Osel Ling Monastery, Kathmandu, Nepal.

Lama Lekshey’s body rests at Sherab Ling Monastery, where Guru Vajradhara His Holiness the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa has conducted phowa, and will hold prayer services and confer blessings while holding vigil. At Osel Ling Monastery we are holding a day long puja for our beloved Lama-la. Various other monasteries will also hold prayer services in his honor.

For nearly five months, Lama-la received excellent medical care in Delhi. During this time, Lamas’s and monks from Osel Ling, including Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche rotated vigil by his side. Rinpoche shared that “although treatment, prayers and practice can help to overcome obstacles in this life, karma from past lives is very difficult to change. We must accept and understand this as part of impermanence.”(YMR) We send prayers, love and compassion to Lama-la’s family and friends.

Lama Lekshey became a monk at Pengen monastery of the Kagyu Lineage at age of 13. With a deep devotion for his Gurus and aspiration for learning Dharma, he went to India in 1996. At Palpung Sherabling Buddhist Institute, he completed his studies in nine years. He followed Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche’s instruction and served at Tergar Monastery in Bodhgaya as a teacher and secretary general for several years.

From 2010, Lama Lekshey resided at Tergar Osel Ling, and continued to serve the lineage and benefit the community. During the time during Mingyur Rinpoche’s wandering retreat, the 2015 Nepal earthquake and subsequent rebuilding of the monastery, Lama Lekshey demonstrated enduring tolerance and diligence. His extraordinary communication and management skills allowed him to look after the ordained sangha at Osel Ling and accomplish Rinpoche’s vision.

Lama Lekshey's humble manner, warm hearted sense of humor, great kindness and generosity will be remembered by many people in the global Tergar community, as well as in local communities in Nepal, India and beyond.

With the blessings of our gurus, may Lama Lekshey be reborn in the Pure Land and continue to benefit all beings.
