The Tergar Mandala
A Global Network of Meditation, Learning, and Compassion in Action
Essence of Tergar
Rooted in an unbroken lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, Tergar brings ancient wisdom into modern life through a global community of monastics and lay meditation practitioners.
At its heart is Tergar Osel Ling Monastery in Kathmandu, the spiritual home of the Tergar Sangha and seat of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche—renowned teacher, author, and lineage holder of the Kagyu and Nyingma traditions.
Guided by Mingyur Rinpoche, the Tergar Sangha unites practitioners, teachers, students, donors, staff, volunteers, and community members worldwide, dedicated to cultivating awareness, lovingkindness, compassion, and wisdom for the benefit of all beings and our planet.
Within this living community is the Tergar Mandala, a network of ten unique, mission aligned, non-profit organizations, independent but working together in union to alleviate suffering, promote the recognition of innate well-being and care for our natural environment.

Dharma & Study Organizations
Tergar’s Dharma and study offerings are anchored at Tergar Osel Ling Monastery in Kathmandu and Tergar Bodh Gaya Monastery in India, supporting monastic education, contemplative training, and the transmission of Buddhist teachings through their respective monastic college and feeder schools.
For those seeking deeper immersion, Tergar Institute and Tergar Retreats offer structured pathways for intensive practice. Tergar Institute provides multi-year programs in meditation and Buddhist study—onsite at Tergar Osel Ling and online—integrating contemplative training with socially engaged projects. Tergar Retreats offers short- and long-term retreat opportunities in Portugal, including solitary retreat, supporting practitioners in deepening their lived experience of the path.

Meditation & Practice Communities
Tergar International and Tergar Asia support a global network of meditation communities through accessible, sequential programs offered online, hybrid, and in person. These include Anywhere, Anytime Meditation, The Joy of Living (Levels 1–3), and The Path of Liberation (Courses 1–5), providing a progressive journey from foundational awareness practices to the Buddhist path. Vajrayana Online complements these offerings with additional teachings and source materials.
Together, these communities make authentic meditation training available to practitioners worldwide.

Social & Environmental Engagement
Tergar’s social engagement organizations—Tergar Charity Nepal, Himalayan Environment & Life Protection (H.E.L.P.), Tergar Schools, and the Yongey Foundation—bring contemplative practice into the world through education, environmental care, and community empowerment.
Tergar Charity Nepal supports schooling and healthcare in remote Himalayan villages. H.E.L.P. works alongside local communities in the Nubri Valley to regenerate livelihoods, strengthen cultural traditions, and foster environmental resilience. Tergar Schools offers contemplative K–12 education in Nepal, with an expanding campus model rooted in learning through connection with nature.
The Yongey Foundation supports fundraising across monasteries, Dharma programs, education, and social initiatives while helping strengthen collaboration and coordination throughout the Tergar Mandala.
